  • Inconel 601 alloy, UNS N06601, German standard 2.4851, is a nickel-chromium alloy with good oxidation resistance up to 1180 ℃. Even under very severe conditions, such as heating and cooling cycles, Inconel 601 alloy can still form a dense oxide film and get a high resistance to spalling. Good carbonation resistance. Due to its high chromium and aluminum content, it is also commonly used to resist high temperature oxidation in sulfur-containing atmospheres. At room temperature and high temperature, Inconel 601 alloy has good mechanical properties and good resistance to stress corrosion cracking.

  • Inconel 601 alloy alloy is easy to process in general industrial processes. However, due to its high strength, high-power machines are required for cold and hot processing. Below, HY-Industry is briefly explained in various directions:

Inconel 601 alloy preheating

  • The workpiece must be cleaned before and during heating to keep the surface clean. If the heating environment contains sulfur, phosphorus, lead or other low melting point metals, Inconel 601 alloy will become brittle. Impurities come from marked paint, chalk, lubricants, water, fuel, etc. The sulfur content of the fuel should be low. For example, the impurity content of liquefied gas and natural gas should be less than 0.1%, the sulfur content of city gas should be less than 0.25g / m3, and the sulfur content of petroleum gas should be less than 0.5%.

  • It is better for the heated electric furnace to have more precise temperature control ability and purer furnace gas composition.

  • If the impurity content of the gas is low, the gas heating furnace can also be considered. However, the furnace gas must be neutral or weakly alkaline, and the composition of the furnace gas should be prevented from fluctuating in oxidizability and reducibility. The burning flame cannot be burned directly to the workpiece.

Inconel 601 alloy hot working

  • The suitable hot working temperature of Inconel 601 alloy is 1200-900 ℃. The cooling method can be water quenching or other rapid cooling methods. After hot working, it should be annealed in time to ensure the best performance. During hot processing, the material should be heated to the upper limit of the processing temperature.

  • After the furnace is warm, the material’s holding time is 60 minutes per 100mm thickness. After the heat preservation reaches the stipulated time, it will be released immediately and processed within the stipulated temperature range. If the temperature of the metal drops below the minimum processing temperature, it should be heated again.

Inconel 601 alloy cold working

  • Cold working should be carried out after solution treatment. The work hardening rate of Inconel 601 alloy is greater than that of austenitic stainless steel, so the processing equipment should be adjusted accordingly, and there should be an intermediate annealing process during cold working. The final solution treatment is required when the amount of cold deformation is greater than 10%.

Inconel 601 alloy heat treatment

  • Inconel 601 alloy heat treatment temperature range is 920-980 ℃, the most suitable is 950 ℃.

  • In order to obtain long-term high-temperature performance, Inconel 601 alloy high-temperature solution treatment temperature range is 1100-1180 ℃. Using water quenching can obtain the maximum creep resistance and the least carbon precipitation between 500-800 ℃. Materials with a thickness of less than 3mm can also be used for rapid air cooling.

Inconel 601 alloy polishing

  • A high-temperature alloy will form an oxide protective film during operation. Therefore, you need to check carefully whether you need to polish.

  • The oxide near the weld of Inconel 601 alloy workpiece is more difficult to remove than stainless steel. It needs to be polished with a fine abrasive belt or grinding wheel. Before pickling in a mixed acid of nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid, the oxide or Carry out salt bath pretreatment.

Inconel 601 alloy machining

  • The machining of Inconel 601 alloy needs to be carried out after solution treatment. Taking into account the work hardenability of the material, unlike austenitic stainless steel, Inconel 601 alloy is suitable for low surface cutting speed and heavy feed.

Inconel 601 alloy welding

  • Before welding, the material must be annealed or solution treated, the surface must be clean, free of oil stains, powder-free notes, etc., and the bright metal should be polished within 25mm around the weld. The temperature between layers does not exceed 120 ℃, and no pre-weld or post-weld heat treatment is required.
