nickel chromium cobalt molybdenum inconel 617 plate

Inconel 617: a solid solution nickel-chromium-cobalt-molybdenum alloy

Inconel 617 is a typical desulfurization and denitrification alloy, and it is also a typical 6 molybdenum steel. Inconel 617 has very high pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in halide medium and acidic environment containing hydrogen sulfide, and can effectively resist chloride ion stress corrosion.

The characteristic of Inconel 617 is that the alloy structure is particularly sensitive to the thermal processing process, and it can grasp the precipitation and dissolution rules of each phase in the alloy as well as the relationship between structure, process and performance, and can be used for different purposes. For applications requiring high strength and corrosion resistant material, Inconel 617 is worth considering. The combination of nickel + cobalt, chromium and molybdenum produces a nickel alloy that can be used in a huge temperature range of -423°F to 1300°F.

Inconel 617 has been widely used in foreign aero-engines and civil industries. In China, it is mainly used in the manufacture of combustion chamber parts and other hot end parts as well as honeycomb structures. Chromium contributes to the alloy’s resistance to oxidation, carburization and sulfide when Inconel 617 is exposed to high temperatures. Molybdenum (12-5-14.5%) and Tungsten (2.5-3.5%) add to the strength of the Inconel 617 material, which allows Inconel 617 to perform well in seawater environments, both static and flowing.

Inconel 617 is the preferred choice for any high temperature application. It offers corrosion resistance, creep resistance in high stress environments, and low expansion even at elevated temperatures. The maximum service temperature of Inconel 617 is 1000℃~1305℃. NCONEL617 alloy has excellent corrosion resistance in hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and sulfuric acid, and has good corrosion resistance in hydrofluoric acid, but has poor corrosion resistance in the mixed corrosion solution of nitric acid, hydrofluoric acid and glycerin. Aqua regia does not have corrosion resistance.

Inconel 617 can also manufacture various heat exchange equipment, boiler feed water heaters, petroleum and chemical pipelines, containers, towers, tanks, valves, pumps, reaction vessels, shafts, etc.
