Alloy K500 (Shanghai HY Industry Co., Ltd-marketing department)
Alloy K500 is a nickel-copper alloy that combines the excellent corrosion resistance of Alloy 400 and gives it greater strength and hardness. Alloy K500 provides a yield strength 3 times higher than Alloy 400. These enhanced properties are mainly through the addition of aluminum and titanium elements and age hardening on the basis of nickel as the main element. A small amount of Ni3 (titanium, aluminum) particles precipitated into the matrix during the aging hardening process. K-500’s low permeability, high strength and good corrosion resistance have been widely used, mainly oil well detector materials and electronic components. An important feature is that Alloy K500 is non-magnetic even at very low temperatures. Age hardening will produce the original volume shrinkage. During the age hardening process, the round rod with a diameter of 2.5 x 10-4 in shrinks. In order to achieve the best performance, the typical age hardening process is described below at 982°C for 30 minutes and then water quenched and annealed. Keep it at 593°C-607°C for 16 hours and then slowly cool with the furnace at 9.4°C-3.8°C per hour until 482°C. After cooling from 482°C to room temperature, some boiler cooling, air cooling or quenching may be required in the middle, regardless of the cooling rate.
