Material characteristics

has excellent tolerance to neutral and alkaline salts and has long been the standard material for salt production systems.

It has excellent corrosion resistance in hydrofluoric acid and fluorine gas media, and is one of a few materials which can be contacted with fluorine, hydrofluoric acid and hydrogen fluoride or a compound thereof.

Poor performance in highly oxidizing acids such as nitric acid or nitrous acid. In this environment, high chromium stainless steel should be considered.

Monel is more corrosion resistant than copper based alloys in seawater.

The maximum temperature for continuous operation in air is generally around 600 ° C. In high temperature steam, the corrosion rate is less than 0.026 mm / a.

According to the German VdTÜV material table, it can be used as a pressure vessel at -10~425 °C; in the ASME boiler and pressure vessel specification, the upper temperature limit is 480 °C.

The strength in the annealed state is very low, and the strength can be improved by tempering.
