  • Excellent corrosion resistance to inorganic acids, such as nitric acid, phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid and mixed acids of sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, etc.

  •  When the temperature reaches 40°C, it can show good corrosion resistance in various concentrations of hydrochloric acid solutions

  • Excellent corrosion resistance to various inorganic acid mixed solutions

  • Excellent resistance to non-oxidizing media such as acetic acid and formic acid

  • Manufacturing certification of pressure vessels with a wall temperature of -196 to 450°C

Inconel 625 Overview

  • Inconel 625 is a corrosion and oxidation resistant nickel base alloy with high strength and excellent aqueous corrosion resistance. Its exceptional strength and toughness are due to the addition of niobium, which together with molybdenum hardens the alloy’s matrix.

  • Inconel 625 has excellent fatigue strength and stress corrosion cracking resistance to chloride ions. This nickel-based alloy has excellent weldability and is often used to weld AL-6XN. The alloy is resistant to a variety of severely corrosive environments and is particularly resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion.

  • Inconel 625 is commonly used in chemical processing, aerospace and marine engineering, pollution control equipment and nuclear reactors.

Alloy 625 has three basic heat treatments:

  1. High solution annealed – 2000/2200°F (1093/1204°C), air quenched or faster.

  2. Low solution annealed – 1700/1900°F (927/1038°C), air quenched or faster.

  3. Stress relieved – 1650°F (899°C), air quenched.

The time at the above temperature depends on volume and thickness. For example, stripes take less time than disks. The temperature for both high solution annealing and low solution annealing is usually held for 0.5 to 1 hour, and the temperature for stress relief treatment is usually held for 1 to 4 hours.

High solution annealing is not commonly used for applications below 1500°F (816°C). It is typically used above 1500°F where creep resistance is important, and high solution annealing is also used to provide maximum softness for mild processing operations such as cold rolling or drawing.

Stress-relieved treatments are used to achieve the best combination of tensile and fracture properties from ambient to 1900°F (1038°C), with very good ductility and toughness at low temperatures.

Stress Relief Recommended for applications below 1200°F (649°C) when maximum fatigue, hardness, tensile and yield strength properties are required, ductility and toughness are very good at low temperatures. Stress relief treatments are sometimes used when fine grain sizes are required for fatigue, tensile and yield strengths up to 1500°F (816°C).

Inconel 625 corrosion resistance

  • Inconel 625 alloy shows excellent corrosion resistance in many media, and has excellent resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, intergranular corrosion and erosion in chloride media, and has good corrosion resistance to inorganic acids. Such as nitric acid, phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, etc. At the same time, it also has alkali and organic acid corrosion resistance in oxidizing and reducing environments, and is effective in resisting chloride ion reductive stress corrosion cracking.

  • There is almost no corrosion in seawater and industrial gas environments, and it has high corrosion resistance to seawater and salt solutions, even at high temperatures. It is resistant to carbonization and oxidation in static or cyclic environments, and is resistant to corrosion by chlorine-containing gases.

Inconel 625 (UNS N06625) Processability

The linconel625 material has excellent machining performance, and performs well in high-speed cutting, deep hole drilling and grinding; at the same time, the material has good thermal conductivity, which can reduce the cutting temperature.

In addition, lnconel625 material also has excellent thermal stability and high temperature oxidation resistance.

  • Efficient metal cutting effect: inconel625 alloy is a very good tool coating material. It not only has good wear resistance and corrosion resistance, but also can improve the life and durability of the tool.

  • Good thermal stability and oxidation resistance: due to the high thermal conductivity of the alloy, its heat dissipation performance is good; in addition, because the material is chemically inert and does not contain harmful impurities such as chromium carbide, it is stable at high temperature Strong antioxidant capacity.

  • Low friction coefficient and high shear strength: The low friction coefficient of the material makes the tool wear rate lower; and the higher shear strength makes the blade not easy to crack and keep sharp.

  • Good wear resistance, high hardness, and good toughness: using this kind of blade under the same conditions can prolong the life of the blade and improve production efficiency; and because of its high toughness and good wear resistance, it can be used Longer life.

Inconel 625 process performance and requirements:

  1. The alloy has good cold and hot forming properties, and the heating temperature of steel ingot forging is 1120°C.

  2. The average grain size of the alloy is closely related to the degree of deformation of the forging and the final forging temperature.

  3. The welding performance of the alloy is good, and it can be used for argon arc welding with tungsten electrode or this alloy as an additive under a protective atmosphere, and it can also be used for brazing connection and resistance seam welding.

  4. Surface treatment process: When removing the scale on the surface of the alloy, it is firstly washed with alkali, and then pickled in nitric acid, hydrofluoric acid-water solution.

  5. When the alloy is cold processed, when the processing amount is greater than 15%, it must be annealed after hot processing.

Applications of Inconel 625 (UNS N06625)

Inconel 625 alloy after softening annealing is widely used in the chemical process industry, and its good corrosion resistance and high strength make it suitable for thinner structural parts. Alloy 625 can be used where it is exposed to seawater and subjected to high mechanical stress. Typical application areas:

  • Components of organic chemical processes containing chlorides, especially where acidic chloride catalysts are used

  • Digesters and bleaching tanks for the manufacture of pulp and paper industry
